JETS Community Advisory Board

A seven member JETS Citizens Advisory Board has been appointed by the Mayor and City Council to advocate for the development of an effective and efficient public transit system for the City of Jonesboro.  JETS Community Advisory Board members each serve a three year term.  Six of the Board members each represent a particular Ward within the city, while one Board member serves in an At-Large capacity.  The Board terms are staggered so as to provide JETS with Board continuity.  The JETS Community Advisory Board meets monthly to Hear reports from JETS management as to the current status of JETS operation Allow for direct citizen input into planning for JETS development To formally hear requests concerns, complaints, and suggestions coming directly from the public While the JETS Community Advisory Board does not have policy making authority, its members do have the ear of JETS management and they frequently contribute suggestions and insights that expand the range of ideas considered in the decision-making process. The JETS Community Advisory Board generally holds its regular meeting on the First Wednesday of each month (for some months the meetings are held on the Second Wednesday to allow for JETS staff reports to be readied).  The venue for these meetings is usually the Round Room of the Jonesboro-Craighead County Regional Library. JETS has a sheltered stop that serves the Library.

JETS is an

acronym for Jonesboro Economical Transportation System and it has been providing public transportation for the City of Jonesboro since May 2006.  JETS offers both Fixed Route and Paratransit service, all within the city limits.  All JETs vehicles are equipped with wheelchair access.
JETS Fixed Route service is currently provided by three hour long loops that cover significant portions of north, west, central, and east Jonesboro.  JETS Fixed Route Service also has stops in the western-most portion of the Jonesboro Industrial Park.
